Location and Description
Kirurumu Tented Lodge is set high on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, enjoying a marvellous, uplifting and panoramic view eastward over Lake Manyara, the Rift floor and Mt. Losimingori. Behind Kirurumu, the Ngorongoro Highlands rise in green and fertile splendour and form the gateway to Ngorongoro Crater and, finally, Olduvai Gorge, the Serengeti.
Kirurumu Tented Lodge is extremely unobtrusive, having been built with great sensitivity in line with the its commitment to eco-sensitive tourism; for instance care was taken not to cut away any trees, the tent bases were made from local volcanic stone, and the roofs are thatched blending into the environment. Impact on the lodge's surroundings has been absolutely minimal, all utility lines are carefully placed underground and hot water is created by solar panels. As a result, birdlife around the lodge has increased, and even the shy Dik-Dik, the smallest of the antelope family has remained resident around camp.
Accommodation
Kirurumu Tented Lodge has 20 double and twin tented rooms including two lovely honeymoon suites. Each Kirurumu Tented Lodge room is fully and tastefully furnished with wooden verandah with armchairs and table, full interior furnishing, full en suite bathroom facilities with flush toilets and running water, and towels and all other soft bedding and furnishings.Dining and Cuisine
The dining hall is built under thatch with partial view of the lake; culinary delights served include selection of excellent African and and European dishes.
The bar is located a few steps away from the main restaurant, and offers visiting guests the opportunity to relax in the evenings and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of the entire Lake Manyara National Park.
